Colon Hydrotherapy
What is Colon Hydrotherapy?
Colon Hydrotherapy is a natural treatment that gently rinses the colon with warm water to soften and help release stool, gas, mucus, and accumulated waste from the large intestine. When our body is burdened with toxic waste, it functions at a lower level. This removal of unnecessary matter allows nutrients to be absorbed more easily. During the session, the filling and emptying of the colon may also encourage the natural muscular activity involved in elimination.

At Renew Holistic Wellness, our gravity-fed system works with the body's natural processes rather than using mechanically pressurized water.
Colon hydrotherapy involves the safe, gentle infusion of water into the colon - no chemicals or drugs are used, and the entire therapy is effective and can be relaxing. A healthy, well-functioning bowel is essential for the maintenance of optimal health. Colon Hydrotherapy gives many people a sensation of overall well-being and energy, and it’s often the inspiration for a healthier diet and lifestyle.
What is Colon Hydrotherapy Can Do For You
Modern life isn't always kind to our digestive systems. Many of us spend too much time sitting, experience ongoing stress, don't drink enough water, and consume diets that may be low in fiber and high in processed or refined foods. All of these factors can influence digestion, bowel regularity, and how we feel from day to day.
And even people who eat well, exercise regularly, and consider themselves healthy can struggle with constipation, irregular bowel movements, bloating, or the feeling of incomplete elimination.

That's where Colon Hydrotherapy may offer supportive care.

Clients come to us for many different reasons. Some incorporate Colon Hydrotherapy into an overall wellness or self-care routine, while others are looking for support with bowel regularity and elimination.

Common reasons clients seek colon hydrotherapy include:
-
Occasional constipation or difficulty eliminating
-
A feeling of incomplete elimination
-
Bloating or abdominal fullness
-
Changes in bowel regularity
-
Supporting elimination during a wellness or nutrition program
-
Preparing for or transitioning through certain dietary changes
-
Simply wanting to feel more comfortably and thoroughly emptied
Supporting Your Body's Natural Elimination Process
Your colon already has an important job: moving stool through the large intestine and eliminating what your body no longer needs. Colon Hydrotherapy doesn't replace that natural process—it is intended to support it.

Colon Hydrotherapy - Frequently Asked Questions
How often can I get a colonic?
It's safe to get a gravity-fed colonic every 24 hours. For most, however, that's not necessary.

How many sessions will I need?
Overall, the number of treatments varies with the individual and his/her condition. It can take a series of colonics to loosen and moisten older, accumulated fecal matter. While we can remove a considerable amount of toxins and waste in one treatment, most clients benefit from more than one session.

We offer packages for sessions after your first appointment and make a recommendation based on your state of health and your first procedure. Most clients get the best initial results from a series of 2-3 colonics closer together (i.e., within a few weeks) to begin the detoxification process and get things "moving". Once the colon is clean, it's advisable to have a colonic every 1-2 months to maintain. Of course, each client is different, so we will work with you based on your needs.

What is "regular" when it comes to pooping?
If we eat three meals a day, we should be pooping 3x a day -- about 20 minutes after each meal. Ideally, your stool should be about 6" long, smooth and tapered, and about 2-3" in diameter.
However, even if you're pooping 3x a day, you can still have gut issues. On a standard American diet, you can eat a lot of bad fats and grease. That fat and grease can build up and coat the inner colon, eventually reducing the space available for waste to pass. Colonics can help.
Even healthy eaters find that regular colon hydrotherapy improves their health and wellness, keeping the body free of built-up toxins and excess intestinal matter.

At what age can someone start getting colonics?
Colonics can be performed on anyone over the age of 10. Anyone under 18 must have an adult present to receive a colonic. If you plan to book an appointment for a minor, please call us first so we can understand the child's challenges and needs.

Can I have a colon hydrotherapy session if I'm pregnant?
If you have been getting regular colon hydrotherapy at our office, we're happy to work closely with you during your pregnancy and there is some wait time after conception. However, if this is your first colonic, and you're pregnant, it's our policy to require a doctor's prescription to have the colonic performed.

If you have any additional questions, please contact us; we're happy to help.
